Job Description:
- Responsible for managing business development activities and opportunities that lead to expansion and capture of new business within the Defense Program Business unit, specifically the U. S. Air Force, however other areas of interest include airborne and ground communications networks and infrastructure.
- Gathers and develops essential information on business opportunities to position Harris Defense programs for highest probability of win.
- The candidate must have a proven track record in engineering, program management, and business development and have significant experience with Air Force communications systems and processes.
- Specific job functions include developing a comprehensive understanding of customers missions, capabilities, business posture and investment strategies, and creating strategic growth initiatives and strategies for expanding opportunities for Harris Corporation.
- Establishes relationships with industry partners enabling partnering opportunities and teaming strategies on business opportunities in both prime and sub roles.
- Must be able to formulate and execute winning pursuit strategies.
- Develops the Price-to-Win on business pursuits.
- Participates in proposal capture and proposal development activities in accordance with the Harris Business Acquisition Process (BAP).
- Initiates non-disclosure agreements and teaming agreements.
- Travel will be required in this position at an average of 5 - 10 days per month.
Qualifications:
- Successful candidates should have a BA/BS degree in a technical discipline with a minimum of 20 years of applicable experience. Masters degree (preferably MBA) a plus.
- Must have a thorough understanding of the U. S. Air Force, its missions and the prime government contractors supporting those activities, as well as organization structures and contracting vehicles and acquisition processes.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Previous industry experience with the business development process must be demonstrated, with particular emphasis on Air Force and military communication systems.
- Significant work experience with requirements definition, technology development, system acquisition and program management is required, as are relationships and knowledge of key prime contractor and Air Force personnel and acquisition processes.
- Candidate must be self-motivated, highly professional, and should have strong interpersonal skills. Candidate must possess the ability to interface with customer executives, and must be able to provide the necessary leadership to work with minimal supervision and integrate field and base division resources into an effective team.
- The ability to provide market analyses and competitive assessments, build relationships and alliances, gather business intelligence, and develop business plans is required.
- This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Secret security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
