Job Description:
The candidate will be a member of a team responsible for the definition, design, implementation, and support of standard configurations of all Cisco network and security platforms used within the VIDA network. The candidate is responsible for defining standard configurations and architecture that can maintain security, the highest availability, and best possible performance of multiple large-scale public safety voice systems. The candidate will also be responsible for consistently documenting their work for others to utilize.
Other responsibilities will include:
The design of complex IP-Based radio systems, including pre- and post-sales support, design, and implementation; Develop standard configuration templates that can be consistently and efficiently deployed to real-world networks; Specify new Cisco hardware and operating systems; Aggressively lead problems to resolution; Cisco network administration; Executes/Creates/Updates Standard Operating Procedures accordingly; Coordinate and facilitate activities with vendors, escalation support teams, and other teams within Harris
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of network administration or design experience
- Experience with TCP/IP and networking principles
- Experience in network security and network security auditing tools
- Experience with troubleshooting network issues
- Experience with Windows operating systems
- Experience with the Solaris/UNIX operating systems
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Professional certifications (e.g. CCNP) are a plus
- Some programming experience
- In depth knowledge of EIGRP
- Knowledge of VoIP systems
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, to smoothly context switch between issues and prioritize them appropriately
- Has clear & concise ability to communicate issues in a less technical sense to management and business
- Demonstrate leadership skills which include customer focus, change management, teamwork, diversity, and integrity
- Self-motivated team player, able to set priorities and manage to deadlines
- Excellent trouble-shooting, communication and customer service skills
- Demonstrated ability to proactively resolve problems
